Happy Birthday
to
Dougie “Bulldog” Vanhoose
That’s right! This a real shout-out to the #1 Supporter of Lawrence County’s Student Athletes!
His Birthday is October 21st!
For those of you unfamiliar with this website, the #1 Goal we have here at The Big Sandy Lazer is to get a Lawrence County sports venue named after Dougie “Bulldog” Vanhoose. It’s been listed under our REAL STUFF section since Day 1.
Bulldog Vanhoose moved to Louisa in 1976 from Ohio, and has spent almost just as long serving the students and the Lawrence County School System. If you do the math, that is nearing 50 years of being a part of the fabric and foundation of the Lawrence County School System. His steadfast dedication has made him a part of 6 different decades of Lawrence County Athletics and being involved in the lives of the most important resource we have, our students.
The time he has invested in supporting our student athletes, in traveling countless miles to games, and in sharing in our victories and defeats is, without question, unmatched in the history of Lawrence County. It may be unrivaled in all of Eastern Kentucky. No one else has a Dougie “Bulldog” Vanhoose.
We are so incredibly lucky and blessed to have him!
Here is where I need your help!
The Big Sandy Lazer would like to see the Lawrence County High School Gymnasium named after Dougie “Bulldog” Vanhoose.
For this to happen it has to be a community effort. It may take urging local elected officials even. It may take urging local prominent figures in the community. It may take getting small business owners to get involved.
This is going to take everyday people like you!
What I am looking for a few people to publicly head up this initiative. I will help get you all started and help in any way I can, but I will trust those selected to achieve this goal in whichever way they see best. I am placing my trust in the community of Lawrence County.
